makeyouthink CHARACTER EDUCATION COURSE FOR TEENS

We all encounter tough situations throughout our lifetime that can often lead to feelings of despair. For teens, tough situations often lead to tough choices. This 6-session DVD series of real life youth stories helps provide foundations to help youth make good decisions. These life stories of youth offer different values to help young people deal with the things that matter most in life. Values are principles. When a person learns about principles, they will be better equipped to make good choices in tough situations. The makeyouthink films will make you think and may also help turn despair into hope. The makeyouthink Series is being offered for youth in Gr. 9 - 12 at St. Peter's Parish Centre, Mt. Pearl running for six Sunday evenings Oct. 26 - Nov. 30 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. To register, call Grace Pike 368-9336 or Michelle Walsh 368-1509.

WORLD YOUTH DAY 2008 FOLLOW UP GATHERINGS

Well, everyone rolled out the door from the Maher's, bellies full from a wonderful variety of food at our World Youth Day Pot Luck Supper. Slide shows of pictures were great and yes there was a Fire Pit!

On Sunday, Oct. 26 the WYD pilgrims will gather with Archbishop Currie for another scrumptious Pot Luck Supper. The Carey's have offered to host this gathering, so we will meet at the home of Janice, Theresa and Gerry Carey from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. Directions to their lovely home will follow!

NET TEAM COMING BACK TO OUR ARCHDIOCESE

St. Paul's Parish on Newfoundland Drive has generously offered to host an overnight NET RETREAT for Gr. 9 - 12 students on Fri., Nov. 21-22/08. NET (National Evangelization Team) is a dynamic group of young people who devote their time to traveling around the country giving retreats and rallies to young people. Using drama, music, laughter, prayer, and their own witness of faith, they help young people understand what it means to be charitable towards others, while exploring and deepening their faith. Stay tuned for registration info on this retreat and more great NET activities during the week of Nov. 17-23/08.

  • Give your best to whatever you do.

Responsibility Affirmation I am responsible. I give my best to all that I do and keep my agreements. I learn from my mistakes. I am willing to make amends.

    LINDA VISITING PARISHES

I had a great visit at St. Michael's Parish on Bell Island last weekend. What a wonderful sense of community and caring. I had to leave my car in Portugal Cove on Sat., so I did not know how I was going to get to the Church. Lo and behold, after a short conversation with two lovely ladies on the boat, I had a ride! I met some excited people who are passionate about youth and their faith. I will be back to continue our conversation about supporting and empowering youth of St. Michael's Parish and in the wider community as well. Exciting!

    Holy Rosary/Roncalli

Holy Rosary/Roncalli have some passionate people too who have started their planning for a youth event. On Sun., Oct. 26 after the 11:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Rosary in Portugal Cove youth are invited to a TRICK OR TREAT SOCIAL in the Parish Hall. Stay tuned for notice of this in your bulletins.
