KNIGHTS CONTRIBUTE 50 THOUSAND TO DAFFODIL PLACE
(St. John’s) The Knights of Columbus of Newfoundland and Labrador are donating 50 thousand dollars to Daffodil Place.
Daffodil Place which will open in September of 2008 is a home for individuals who must travel to St. John's for specialized cancer treatment. Having access to Daffodil Place will help cancer patients avoid the financial and emotional stress of finding and paying for accommodations while receiving treatment.
The Knights of Columbus established in Newfoundland and Labrador in 1909 have taken on supporting Daffodil Place as a legacy project to mark the 100th anniversary of their organization being established in the province.
Maurice Lewis, State Deputy for the K of C said that cancer affects everyone including members of the Knights and their families. Daffodil Place which will welcome cancer patients from throughout the province was the right choice for an organization with a province wide membership. The Knights have a long history of community involvement in the province. Mr. Lewis said “the Knights look forward to launching the next one hundred years with this tremendous project.”
