Monday, September 06, 2010 150th Anniversary Organizing Committee The 150th Anniversary Committee has as its prime focus to promote this celebration as an opportunity for renewal and growth of our Roman Catholic Faith in the Archdiocese. The structure to be put in place will facilitate recalling our rich heritage, celebrating the present moment and engaging in a process that will lead us forward in hope. To this end all the various committees and sub-committees must have an appreciation and acceptance of this focus. The call to Evangelization, to Spread the Good News, is critical to any projects that may be planned for the 150th Anniversary year. The Church in this Archdiocese has a rich heritage that we need to be reacquainted with. We have received very much from those gone before us. Our ability to sustain our faith calls for us to have an understanding of how the Church understands itself today, especially as presented by the Vatican II documents. The recent past is also part of our history and in this regard reconciliation and forgiveness need to be invited and celebrated. The Church of the future as expressed by our faith commitment begins with ongoing conversion and an acceptance of the reality that we are called to mirror what we proclaim. Our whole Archdiocesan community is being invited to involve itself in a process of reflection, renewal and action leading to a deeper experience of faith.
