| This section is a guide to the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. This guide is designed to give the visitor a fairly detailed description of the Basilica of St. John the Baptist and an explanation of the many items of beauty and interest to be found within and outside its walls. Many of these objects date from the earliest days of the church; others date from the 1903 and 1955 programmes of renovation and redecoration. All have been dedicated, with love and faith, to the greater honour and glory of God. |
| The floor plan has been provided, which gives the North-South orientation of the church and which locates and names those parts of the church described in the guide, with which the ordinary visitor may not be familiar. The title "Basilica" is used throughout the guide, although the visitor will understand that, prior to 1955, the church was referred to as a "Cathedral." |
| It is our hope that this guide will enable you to share our joy and pride in this magnificant structure. |
